Welcome to the 2021 Root Model Search! The Root Model Search has been a constant since the very beginning as we set out to find fresh new faces to represent our company. While the core of the Model Search will always stay constant, this year we’re looking to switch things up a bit with fresh ideas (& a huge prize package).
We are looking for ONE Root Model to represent Root for a one-year term.
If you have a passion for creating high-quality content, love beauty & want to represent our nontoxic community, then this is the job for you. No matter your age, style or skill level, all are welcome to apply! We are looking for content creators who not only produce incredible content, but also bring fresh, exciting ideas to the team & love connecting with our nontoxic beauty community.
What does a Root Model do?
Our models are an extension of the Root creative team & will be featured on our social media, website & marketing. Our 2021 Root Model will represent our company for one year from October 1, 2021 - September 30, 2022.
Our Root Model will provide the following content to Root each month as well as posting it to their personal Instagram page:
- 1 Instagram Story
- 1 Instagram Reel
- 1 Photo
Root will provide content direction each month with the opportunity for additional projects.

Here’s How to Enter
The Root Model Search is broken down into three rounds. Keep on reading for step-by-step instructions on how to enter & what each round entails.
ROUND 1 EXTENDED! Round 1 of the 2021 Root Model Search has been extended to September 26. Please see below for up-to-date timeline details.
Round 1 • August 2 - September 26
- Fill out the Round 1 Form here.
- Post a 30-60 second INSTAGRAM REEL to your Instagram page. Introduce yourself, tell us why you want to be a Root Model, show off your favorite beauty tip - get CREATIVE & WOW us! Your Round 1 Instagram Reel, along with your current Instagram feed & content, will be the main deciding factors on who moves on to Round 2, & ultimately Round 3.
- Tell us in the caption why you are entering the Root Model Search! Why would you make the BEST Root Model? Be sure to use the hashtag #rootmodel21 & tag us @rootpretty.
Video Tips:
- Well lit, natural lighting
- No filters
- High resolution & clarity (not pixelated or grainy)
- Basic video editing &/or voiceovers encouraged
Instagram Reel & Round 1 Form must be completed by September 26 at 11:59pm CDT. All participants will be notified by email on September 29 as to whether they are moving on to Round 2.
Round 2 • September 29 - October 10
All Round 2 participants’ Instagram Reel from Round 1 will be posted to Root’s website for public voting on September 29. Have your friends, family & followers vote to help you move on to Round 3! The top 3 participants with the most votes will automatically proceed to Round 3. Up to 7 additional participants will move on to Round 3 as decided by the Root team.
Round 3 • October 11 - October 27
All Round 3 candidates will post a fall-inspired makeup tutorial to their IGTV, up to 5 minutes long. Show us your go-to daily fall look or play with bold colors to make your look stand out. The creativity is all up to you! Round 3 participants will receive a $100 discount code to purchase Root products needed for their Round 3 tutorial.
We will announce the 2021 Root Model on November 1, 2021.
OFFICIAL RULES:

To enter, you must be 18 years of age (by November 1, 2021) & be located in the US or Canada.

Winning 2021 Root Model will be committed to fulfilling their role for the duration of their term (November 1, 2021 - October 31, 2022).

By entering Round 1 of the 2021 Root Model Search, you are giving Root permission to embed your Round 1 Instagram Reel to its website for Round 2 voting.

Root Models do not have to sign a non-compete agreement. You are free to share about other brands or companies as you see fit.
